There are some basic rules for fights here at Shattered World. Though not all fights will require a fight mod, some will and you have to ask a member of staff to overlook the fight. These types of fights include fights for ranks, mates, or fights to the death. Note though, not all fights have to be supervised, most of the time it's up to you whether you want a fight mod or not. To ask for a fight mod, reply to this thread directly or PM an Admin using this form;
Rules ~
*No auto-hitting! What this means is that you're speaking for the other character in saying that you injured them, without giving them a chance to respond or evade. Wrong; Bella snapped at Ethan, fangs snapping around his ear. Snapping her head back, Bella tore away Ethan's ear.
Why this is wrong; Bella roleplayed that she injured Ethan in a large way without waiting for his reply. This is god-modding and not allowed in fights.
Correct; Bella snapped at Ethan, fangs aiming for his ear. Hopefully she could catch it and tear his ear off.
Why this is right; This time, Ethan had the chance to respond and say what happened to his character, instead of it being roleplayed for him.
*No god-modding! Now just because he don't allow auto-hitting doesn't mean your character is invincible. Your character only has one full dodge in a fight, no more, no less. That means they can completely avoid a blow, without being harmed. But every attack after that they have to take some sort of damage, no character could walk away from a fight unscathed.
*Fatal Injuring. Yes, your character can be fatally injured here, but only with your consent. That means no ripping off someone's paw or taking out their eye without that character's permission! If your character is going to be fatally injured, be sure to alert Staff to this, so neither parties get a warning for breaking the rules.
*Defenses. Though your character is not un-harmable, there are certain measures they can take to protect themselves. Taking a defensive stance during a fight will shield them to attacks to a degree, though they're not immune to them. A full defensive stance would be;
Chin tucked into neck - to protect the front of the throat
Shoulders rolled forwards - to protect the sides of the throat.
Ears pinned to head - to protect the ears (ears are extremely sensitive)
Tail tucked between legs - to protect tail (if tail is grabbed, the whole body is vulnerable)
Body lowered to ground - character is fully ready to spring or run away if needed, as well as jump at the enemy. It also protects the stomach
Claws dug into ground - to help keep balance
Shoulder to opponent - the front of the throat and chest isn't as easily reachable
If all these are done, it's not ensured, but your character has a better chance of winning the fight. Keep in mind, defenses reset every post.
To keep track of the current attacks and defenses, it is advised to use the fight code.
Attack: Place here what your characters current attack (attempt) is. Ie, leaping at the opponent, trying to grab his/her scruff
Defense: Place here what defensive measures your character has taken, ie tucked tail in between legs and flattened ears
Injuries: What injures your character has sustained so far (can be either along the whole fight, or just the last attack)
Other: You can add any of your own notes (ie, words count, muse, etc)
