The transition from pack wolf to loner was not a hard one for the red male. He had spent a long time alone, and returning to a life where he only had himself to rely on was simple. However, Anoki was not prepared for the loneliness that consumed him. All those hours of solitude, with no other to speak to, drove his mind numb rather than open it up. The silence pressed in on him like a vice. It was this that drove him to the Shadow Swift Pack border. Even though his previous family wasn't there, perhaps he would find another. His large feet made light work of the hard ground, his bulk moving easily over the obsticals before him. As the border closed in, he found his aches drifting away, found he moved with a slighter tread. The world opened up again, and a shadow of his old grin formed on his lips. It feels good to run again. He pushed the thought away, for his old running partner was no longer with him. The most he knew was that Rose lived. The fairy she-wolf had departed from the Summit before he had, escaping all that followed. He himself had managed to avoid the illness, staying long enough to see his friends either die or run. It had broken his heart, causing him to block it off and turn to stone for a while. But like an ingrowing hair, it threatened to turn his mind sour and make his something he was not.
As he neared the borders edge, he threw his thick legs before him, skidding to a stop before he came to close. His summer coat had grown in weeks before, the reds brighter and more vibrant, the oranges golden in the suns rays. The honey tones of his eyes twinkled slightly and a chuckle escaped him. It had been over a year since he had stood upon a pack's edge, wondering if he should join. There was no pondering here though. Anoki's mind had been made up long before he arrived here. He seeked the comfort of pack life again, and would do anything to get it. Raising his great head, Anoki howled to let the pack know that he was there. Looking at the well worn ground, a shiver ran up his spine at the prospect of meeting new wolves. How I have missed this. The large ears where loose and mobile about his head, orcher eyes probing with quiet intent. The red elders large tail wagged in the manner of a dog for the first time in a long time as he turned from stone to flesh again. His old self returning from the shadow realm.
