~Lucretius~
Age: two years
Gender: male
Species: fox
Breed: Arctic Fox
Rank: n/a -- loner
Pack: n/a
Appearance: There are two 'forms' to Lucretius, if you will. During the winter, he sports a fluffy white coat that covers his body from head to tail. During the summer, his glorious white fur sheds, leaving a mess of duller colors and much thinner fur. Primarily brown, there are patches of white or grey fur that manage to be visible on various parts of his body, such as his face. His tail retains most of its fluff, though it definitely is not what it used to be. He finds himself 'ugly' during the summer. No matter what, though, he retains his round, chocolatey brown eyes and black nose. Due to his species, he is relatively small at about twenty-six centimeters at the shoulder. At least he has a long body and tail!
Personality: Lucretius tries to maintain an upbeat personality in any situation. While he tries to remain positive, and while he will talk your ears off if given the chance, he does know how to read the atmosphere. He will clam up either if he notices that someone doesn't want him to speak or if told to silence himself, unlike some who might continue on. The best way to ruin his day, though, is to keep him from being the social butterfly he tries to be. He also hates to be alone. He is almost like a ginnea pig where he can hardly stand to live if he is alone, though his reasoning is more likely because he has a fear of being forgotten and ignored and overall abandonment issues. Thus, he tries a little too hard to make friends.
History: Lucretius grew up in a zoo. No, wait, multiple zoos. He was moved around from zoo to zoo when he was only just an infant, bottle fed instead of suckling on his birth mother. They had to instantly begin bottle feeding him because his mother rejected him since he was the runt and there were too many other siblings to take care of. Growing under the hands of his caretakers at multiple zoos, he had almost believed that he had found the one zoo that would be his forever home. As fate would have it, however, the zoo quickly shut down, abandoned by its owners and staff members. The cages were kept closed and locked. Or, at least, most of them. One of the caretakers had left their keys carelessly next to an ape, and a certain someone managed to release all of the zoo's inhabitants.
Young Lucretius, only just barely weened from the formula they had been feeding him, was still all alone. He didn't know what to do, and he cried the entire day, toddling after various other animals, and nearly avoiding being trampled by others. It was a wolf who answered his cries, an elderly female wolf who had lost her previous pups before the zoo was abandoned. She raised the fox cub on whatever was left from the zoo's supplies, mothering him as if he were her own. She explained to him that not only were they abandoned but that the world had been contaminated. With what? Not even she knew. She had just been eavesdropping on gossip, and she left it at that.Once he was strong enough, and once the zoo's resources had dried up, she led him out of the zoo, and they wandered around together. They tried to learn how to live off the land. It was much easier for Lucretius to learn than the old wolf, and he made a game out of catching as many mice and voles as possible to keep her fed.
Not even a year after they left the zoo, the old she-wolf passed away due to age. Lucretius was left alone once more to wander the land, and, unbeknownst to him, he stumbled into pack territories.
