A sleek, ebony female padded along the Shadow Swift Territories, golden silver gaze sweeping across the grounds. It was quite early morning, the sun a raging ball of fiery colors rising high into the sky. Ariste strode easily, as if gliding across the ground on ice, tail and head high in dominance over the lands she walked upon. Pausing as she reached the steep and rocky incline, her gaze moved upwards, towards the top of the mountainous hill, contemplating whether it was worth it. 'What are you, a scardy pup?' A harsh voice snarled in her ear at her hesitation. She wasn't scared in the least, she just didn't know if it was really worth the effort of scaling it just to see what could very well be nothing of interest on the other side. But at her sister's taunting she inhaled deeply, blowing it out in a small sigh. Digging in her claws, she sprang with a powerful lunge from her hind legs.
Her front paws stretched out, hooking around the large, rough rocks, the first obstacle of many. Paws pressing into the stone, she swung her left hind leg to press against the cool surface as well. Using now three paws, she pushed herself up, gritting her teeth and keeping her grip until she stood safely on all four paws. She didn't pause a second before twisting into another strong leap, landing a slightly elevated, smooth boulder. Turning her head, her eyes narrowed at the nest rock she had to jump on. It was almost straight up, and would require a lot a strength and calculation so she didn't immediately slip off.
Firmly planting all four of her onyx paws, she lowered herself and stiffened, eyes locking on her target. Estimating how much power she would need to successfully made both the large gap, and to not fall from the surface, she took a deep breath, whole body tensing visibly. She sprang, clenching her jaw and twisting and coiling mid-air, as a snake would. She landed at an almost vertical angle, with just enough of a slope to allow her rough paw pads to grip the equally rough stone. In the same second, she bounced off that rock and landed on a relatively flat area. Navigating over and around smaller rocks and logs, she finally managed to reach the top, to overlook the Lake. The mist surrounding the area was still thick, causing Ariste to almost trip over a small root protruding from the ground. "All that, and I'm stumbled by a root." She muttered darkly, slowing her pawsteps.
She felt out each step before taking it, deftly avoiding the other, minor rocks and such in her way. The fire hued sun reflected off of the water, giving it a beautiful, papaya orange color, along with golds, blues, and reds. The mist also added to the effect, making it almost ghostly, a sight to behold. Pausing, Ariste gently leapt down from rock shard to rock shard, until she reached the water. "Beautiful..." She muttered quietly to herself, breathing only slightly hard. She vowed silently to come up here again, at a sun rise or sunset. Sitting back, she rested on her haunches, eyes following the sun as it made its slow ascent to the sky, to light everything in its path.
